Privacy Policy
The short version: your record collection lives on your phone. If you turn on backup, it goes to your own iCloud Drive, and it holds where your records sit, never what they are. No account with us, no server of ours, no analytics, no ads, no selling data.
What VLOrganizer does
VLOrganizer helps vinyl collectors organize their physical record collection. It connects to your Discogs account to read your collection, and maps your records onto the shelves and crates you actually own.
Data stored on your device
VLOrganizer is local-first. When you connect Discogs, your collection (artists, titles, years, labels, genres, formats, and cover thumbnails) is fetched from Discogs and stored only on your device. Your Discogs sign-in happens on Discogs' own site; VLOrganizer never sees your Discogs password, and the access token Discogs issues is stored in your device's Keychain. Requests to Discogs go directly from your device to Discogs, governed by Discogs' privacy policy.
When you open a record, VLOrganizer asks Apple Music for a 30-second preview and the album notes. It sends the artist and title to Apple for that lookup and nothing else: no Discogs identifiers, and nothing about the rest of your library. The match is kept only on your phone. Those requests are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Backup in your iCloud Drive (optional)
Backup is off until iCloud Drive is on for VLOrganizer. When it is, the app writes one backup file to a folder of its own in your iCloud Drive. It doesn't show in the Files app, and it holds only organizational data:
- Your storage setup: shelf and crate names, their layout, and which record formats each holds
- Your sorting rules and placement preferences
- Where each record sits — a shelf position tied to a Discogs catalog number
- Your own corrections: sorting overrides and placement protections you've set
What never leaves your device:
- Artist names, album titles, and any music metadata
- Cover artwork
- Your Discogs credentials and access token
The file lives in your iCloud account, under Apple's iCloud terms. We can't read it: there is no account with us and no server of ours. On a new phone, the first setup screen offers to restore it, and your shelves and rules come back. Your records come back from Discogs.
Tips
VLOrganizer is free. If you leave a tip, it's an in-app purchase that Apple processes. We never see your payment details, and a tip doesn't unlock anything.
What we don't do
- No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
- No tracking across apps or websites
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties
Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone. The iCloud backup is yours: remove it in your iPhone's Settings, under your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › VLOrganizer, or turn iCloud Drive off for VLOrganizer so nothing more is written. You can also revoke VLOrganizer's Discogs access any time from your Discogs account settings.
Children
VLOrganizer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, for example if we add accounts or paid features, we'll update this page and its date above.
